hanging about

Yesterday I was wrong. It happens quite a lot really but that's another story. I was wrong about my blip - it wasn't a hoverfly at all but a bloody huge horsefly. It is called a dark giant horsefly and they can get up to 5cm long - the one in the picture was probably about 3-4.

I never knew horseflies could get that large - now I'm worried :)

Anyway here's a wren just hanging about!
