Hotpot

After lunch we both did a lateral flow test ahead of our travels later. Although the free kits were scrapped at the start of the month, we still have a box. As we are going to visit my Mum and Dad I thought it a sensible use of two of the remaining tests . The results were all clear.

This evening we travelled to Shropshire on the 18:23 train that’s direct from Euston.  There are very few direct trains but, when carrying luggage and Easter presents, it’s much easier to get on at Euston and off in Shrewsbury.  We’d splashed out on first class seats which come with plenty of wine on the outward journey and a little snack. Post-pandemic the food service on the trains has not been quite as good as it used to be.

The direct train also has the advance of getting into Shrewsbury about 9pm which is a more civilised time that some of the later trains we often get. So, when we arrived, Mum gave us a portion of the hotpot that they had for their dinner.  It was delicious even if Jez had eaten all the pickled red cabbage.
