Flaked out

Melty Juno – the heat's beginning to ramp up. Fred and I went for a walk at 6am, to Brockwell Park and back. The fence for Lambeth Country Show was still up, so we couldn't enjoy a walk through the centre of the park. Instead, we got in the way of joggers by walking on the jogging track.

Then home to water the plants, tip another chlorine-dissipated container of water into the much-depleted pond (the water butt was emptied into it last week), and attempt to work in the darkened flat (all curtains and windows closed). Juno joined us as it's cooler indoors than out, thankfully.

Late afternoon, we escaped to the air-conditioned cinema for half-price Monday films. We thoroughly enjoyed Minions: The Rise of Gru, had a bite to eat and caught up with a few friends, then I hopped back into Screen 2 to watch the bling-fest of Baz Luhrmann's Elvis. I didn't have high hopes for the film, but it was extremely well done, particularly in depicting the origin of much of the songs Elvis sang and for capturing the Beale Street sound.
