Salmon leap

Up early and off to the Puffin Pool for my weekly dip and then on to David’s for breakfast and a catch-up.
The skies were grey and it was a cool 15 degrees so our planned trip to Dornoch was changed especially as I knew the tide would be out so less chance of seeing the seals at Loch Fleet. So we headed up the old Evanton road and kept going. We stopped a few times to take photos especially of the view over the Dornoch Firth from Struie Hill. The Heather is starting to bloom and the Rosebay willow herb was adding plenty of colour.
We stopped at Kincardine Church and graveyard to have a look round. An old Pictish gravestone can be seen in the Church when it’s open, it was closed to day and we did not want to disturb anyone to get the key.
We sat and had our lunch in a lay-by and then headed for the Falls of Shin. Plenty of salmon leaping from tiny ones to huge ones like the one in the photo. We stood and watched for quite awhile , incredible how they can leap through such fast flowing water. It does make me dizzy though and all the trees looked like they were moving.
The cafe and shop has closed down but we managed to get a drink and a hot chocolate from a nearby village :)
A nice drive back home with the A9 being quiet.
