coopers´ hoops

There used to be, and to a lesser extent there still is, a cottage-industry round this village, making cider. The apple-harvesting, cider pressing, barrel-making, bottling and corking arrangements, and consumption, added up to a big little business. These old hoops may show that barrel-making once happened behind that wall.
