Braemar

Day 2 in Braemar. We’d a wander round the village in the morning and then attended the Junior Highland games in the afternoon (extra).

This sineage is confusing. The Deeside railway line never reached Braemar only getting as far west as Ballater. It’s believed that Queen Victoria was unhappy about a railway close to Balmoral so passengers were bused  from Ballater to Braemar. The buses were operated by the North of Scotland railway company and this building was the terminus.
The junior games were great fun. Lots of enthusiasm on show with some older hands available to coach the kids and teenagers on some of the heavyweight disciplines such as tossing the caber.
