Grave matters

The family are back from their holiday in France and Nuzzy their cat marked the occasion by somehow capturing a young blue tit from off the upstairs bird feeder (or did it fly into the room,? we don't know.)
Its fragile unmarked corpse became the subject of a great deal of interest, questions, speculation, plans for burial etc.

Extra: "We're going on a badger hunt!"
Across the wet field, through the stinging nettles, under the prickly hawthorns... We didn't see any badgers of course but we looked at where they might be tucked up asleep for the day.

[Connection between the two - which I didn't mention: the old badger hole was the one into which I once stuffed two dead ducks, killed by a fox, when I simply didn't have the energy for another burial. Fortunately the blue tit will require only a tiny grave.]
