A mixed bag today.

The mono shows a bee checking for nectar by biting through the flowerhead. I have seen this often when the flower is tubular like this one. Some bees don't have long tongues so alternative ways are needed. 

The colour snap is a bee checking for nectar on a garlic flower. I've never had garlic honey, have you..? 

In other news the August copy of the RHS 'The Garden' arrived today. I have a credited photo on page 81, one Lullingstone Castle hasn't used before. :o)

To make it a family edition my middle daughter has a letter published on page 7 championing 'pests' as necessary for the garden ecosystem. I continue with no mow May...
