The Hardy Tree

A quirky find. In 1865 poet & author Thomas Hardy was working as an architect on the construction of the railroad from St Pancras to the Midlands. He was supervising the clearance of a section of Old St Pancras Church graveyard and instructed the workmen to stack the gravestones against a tree. Nearly 150 years later they are still there, with the tree growing through them. Today you can't get that close hence the less than ideal pic.
