Geology

We had planned to go for a longish walk today, but the weather put paid to that, so we drove right up to the lighthouse at the Butt of Lewis. The cliffs are incredible, and this photo shows the layers of ancient rock.

We had the most unusual dining experience this evening, at the Edge Cafe at Gallen Head. Its on the site of an old military listening station, right on the edge of the Atlantic, and at the end of a very narrow and twisting  single track road. Dinner is at 6.15pm, and served family style so you sit around a table with the other guests and get served the same thing. The food was delicious, and the conversation was fascinating - an older couple from Glasgow and a Swiss couple who had arrived on a great big motorbike and were drying off when we arrived in the pouring rain.
