Day 6

Day 6 Grein to Krems, 55 miles. A beautiful ride today in warm sunshine. Starting the day with a boat ride, we cycled along the south of the Danube through a steep wooded gorge. Strudel in Ybbs, then on to Melk with it's famous abbey.  Very baroque, and photos weren't allowed but everyone was! Very elaborate.  Every where is busy with cycle tourists and totally caters for us. After Melk over to the north bank and along a stunning section lined with vineyards and apricot orchards. We stopped to see a reproduction of the famous Venus at Willendorf,  where she was discovered; a 25,000 year old sculpture. Then we had homemade apricot dumplings in Spitz before passing the Dürnstein abbey on our final stretch to a cycle hostel in Krems. So much to see today!
