One day at a time

Conversion

I was walking down Gilesgate in Hexham, Northumberland tonight and thought this may be of interest.
The swimming pool here closed many years ago and moved to a purpose built sports centre (a shed type building) elsewhere in the town. It lay unused for many years before being purchased by developers. Planning permission was granted but the facade had to be retained. It is rather splendid. Since Covid work has been progressing. The site falls steeply away behind what you can see and considerable retention measures have had to be taken to stop everything sliding down the bank towards Tesco and Aldi.
Hopefully it will be nice when it is finished. I’m guessing flats here will be very expensive when completed.
