Just Over the Fence...

We're having hot weather, so I was up early and out in our backyard shortly after 7 a.m. We're fortunate to have a permanent "green belt" behind many of the homes in our development, including ours, enabling us to look out at a variety of native trees and bushes.

And wild blackberry vines, just over our back fence... 

I love seeing the transition from pretty white blossom, to a fuzzy white ball, and then to something resembling a bird's nest filled with tiny green eggs.

Best of all are the ripe berries -- assuming we can get to them before the birds do!
