Rook

The pose that this rook has adopted reminds me of a judge for some reason.

Rooks are a type of crow, but you can always tell a rook from the bare skin around the base of its beak. Rooks generally have a peaked rather than a flat topped crown (i.e. more of an upright forehead than a carrion crow) but its not evident in this shot.  While they are still quite big birds, they are actually smaller than carrion crows and generally more sociable gathering together in rookeries.
