The West Highland Line

When I was a child all the trains on the West Highland Line from Glasgow to Oban, Fort William or Mallaig were steam powered. Nowadays steam trains run from Fort William to Mallaig during the summer and very occasionally they can be seen on the part of the line between Glasgow and Fort William. Today was one of those rare occasions.
A trip on the West Highland Line is a wonderful experience, and possibly best done out of season when the leaves have not burst and the varying scenery along the line can be enjoyed to the full.
