Above And Beyond...

The Cricket Club

Midday I popped into Ross on Wye to get a crusty loaf as we've fresh home cooked beetroot this evening. On the way home I drove by the cricket club and was pleased to see them playing, the first match I've seen since we moved here two years ago (they stopped playing during COVID).  I parked up and watched for a while, their pitch and club house is in a lovely setting, and there's something very English about seeing players in their cricket whites. Although very warm, it's been overcast all day with the odd light shower, and my photograph shows the dark clouds.

The new UK football season started today at 3pm, with Cardiff City FC playing their first match against Norwich City, who were relegated from The Premier League last season. Eldest son James came to watch the match. It was a strange one as Cardiff had a clear out of players and have, so far, brought in 12 new players so it was hard work learning names and faces as they played; and also there was a new possession style of play - alien to Cardiff's previous direct style! Cardiff were excellent and won 1-0. I will have a G&T tonight to celebrate!
