the concert

today, my mom and i went to watch my sister's spring concert. so at the beginning there was a jazz combo. i decided to take a few shots, the light was still out and it would be the best time to take photos, being that the concert was outside and it was still sunny. i captured this musician in his solo, but he moved around a lot, so i had a lot of shots of him facing different directions.
there's a lot i can say about music. if you've read my previous blogs, i've said "Music is a language everyone can understand." i really do take that phrase to heart. Music is not merely noise, rather music is an indescribable matter which penetrates the heart- which is the core of all emotions. there's something about music that captivates an audience that lets them feel how the musician feels- whether it's anger, passion, excitement or happiness- the styling of the music communicates it well.
if you know anything about being a musician, you probably know that musicians are all struggling artists, who simply enjoy what they do. success is not measured in money, but it comes at your own definition. for me (and this is just my opinion), a musician's success does not lie in monetary gain or accolades, rather, it is their ability to communicate to the audience the exact way they feel through a piece. that is my definition of musical success.
music is lovely, with whatever type you enjoy, i'm sure that music penetrates your soul; and in one way or another, stirs up emotion in your heart.
