Watching Badminton

Another day at the NEC but this time to watch the badminton team event quarter final between Scotland and Singapore.  We were on the show court but there were still plenty of seats so after a while we moved nearer the court to get a better view.

Sadly, it was a rather one sided affair, with Singapore winning 3-0 in a five match series.  We therefore didn't get to see the final two matches, the men's and women's doubles.  In the picture you can see Loh Kean Yew, the current Men's singles World champion, who over powered Callum Smith of Scotland in straight games.  The only game won by Scotland in the matches was by Kirsty Gilmour who took one game off her opponent.  There were fine margins in two of the matches and on another day it might have easily been 2-1 to Scotland with two to play.

It was good to watch sport rather than just working behind the scenes.
