We were intending to go out for a walk this morning before the day warmed up, but unfortunately we didn’t manage it. By the time we did set off, mid afternoon, it was incredibly muggy outside and the warm, moisture-laden air sapped any remaining energy that we had (which wasn’t very much, it has to be said).

Feeling the need to produce a slightly more interesting blip than the parched grass on the Green, or the dead leaves and acorns thereon, I suggested that we head towards our local shops, where I took quite a few shots of some of the window displays. This one, in the chemist’s, seemed the most interesting. This somewhat dusty antique jar is one of several in the window, and its former contents rather appealed to me. 

Being something of a wordsmith, I felt compelled to look up the inscription above the word Rhubarb. "Opiferque perorbem dicor" translates, apparently, as "I am known over the world as the helper". But of course, you knew that, didn’t you? …
