Fresh start

Dropped A at work this morning then home to start thinking how the rest of my life will pan out! Faffed about a bit with some list writing and talking to social care people about options for P etc, then booked my first session with Edinburgh leisure. Decided to start with aqua fit, and so rolled up and got my membership sorted and got changed and into the pool only to find the instructor couldn’t come and so the session was cancelled! Still, it gave me a chance to chat to a few people there who were all very excited about it being the first day of the rest of my life and keen to explain about all the various classes and how to get involved in various things. Nice to see how easy it might be to make some new wee pals!
After about half an hour of swimming lengths and chatting I got changed and came home and did a bit of laundry and more faffing before setting off downtown to go to the bank (I hate going into bank branches which look nothing like banks and anyway just tell you to do it all online!) before a Board meeting. Some tricky building/design issues to resolve, and very sad news about a key member of the team who’s suddenly found themselves seriously ill. Walked home and met A en route after her first day back. We had a home made burger supper whilst chatting to T who’d just been to visit P. He’s on good form, but T thinks we’ll need to tell him soon about Diesel as he keeps asking for him…..gulp!
Texted my successor to see how her day had gone (well apparently, apart from a senior unexpected resignation), and made some plans for the rest of the week.
Good start to retirement overall!
