Bond St Collioure

Lovely restaurant and shops down this one, I ran out early morning to get a basket to take the delicious train picnic we’d picked up from last night’s comptoir restaurant La Cuisine as their bag didn’t seem quite strong enough.  Swerved the fancy one but got a good sturdy basket that should deliver us many a picnic.

We got a taxi back to Perpignan as the trains seem a bit dodgy but it was then a smooth ride up to Paris with the delicious picnic and a beer from the buffet.  Tricky transit on the RER - bizarrely the French still use the old paper tickets for visitors (I am sure the locals have a pass)  that are hard to fathom and don’t always work, but if you’ve attempted one entry gate you’re blocked from trying again so have to tailgate in the way one did in Paris forty years ago!  Tricky suitcases My helper was a middle aged woman who’d obviously done this often. Much laughter.

Passports obviously a nightmare but amazingly the train left on time. I think they do it by holding back each batch.

Home by 9.45, the house was stuffy but a neighbour, R, had watered the plants…
