Cattail or Bulrush

...looking like toasted coconut.  The portion you see here is the female flower.  The thin stick-like point that has already fallen off top is the male flower.  The plant has a multitude of everyday and survival uses.  Just in case you're stuck in a swamp sometime, here's some helpful information.  My personal favorite is the UrbanArbo hat.  (Question:  would I have a wifi connection in a remote swamp so I could watch the how-to videos???)
