Sea Otters

Take my word for it. They were quite far out, hardly surprising giving the numbers of people on the Monterey waterfront. There were about 14, snoozing on their backs in the kelp beds. I also saw about 4 river otters on another day in Rodeo Lagoon on the Marin Headlands. Birsd around in Monterey included pigeon guillemots (very like our black guillemots) (extra), common murre, barndt's cormorants etc.
