Desolation?

We walked up to the 'valley of desolation*' this afternoon to see the waterfall.  Less of a forlorn hope than I had thought,  there was at least some water flowing, and some brief bursts of sunlight.

* there was a serious storm in 1826 which caused significant damage and so led to the name.

We've very much enjoyed our short stop here in Wharfedale - another one to add to the 'returns' listing!
