Flossmo

Beached

This week has mostly been a case of catching up with household chores and gardening after my 10 days in Wales. There has been no shortage of things to do. Today it was the turn of the front garden and I got the leaf blower out and gathered up all the early fallen leaves and blasted the cobwebs that have gathered in endless nooks and crannies.

But this evening I suggested to Mr Flossmo that we might drive over to Frensham Ponds to see what has happened to the water level. The first surprise was to find that the car park was almost deserted. Normally in the summer holidays the place is heaving so I don't know whether it had been busy and people had gone home or if they had stayed away as requested by the Borough Council in the wake of large fire not too far away a month or so ago or whether the closure of the main road between Farnham and the Ponds to mend a leaking water main has put people off making the journey along the diversion. Whatever, it was nice and peaceful.

Not surprisingly, the water level was way down compared to the last time I was at Little Pond. I have never seen so much 'beach' at the northern end of the pond. Normally the water comes right to the wall (at the bottom right of the photograph). I have occasionally see it when a little of the 'beach' is exposed but never before such a large stretch.

The extra is a photograph of a border collie that was having a great time fetching a tennis ball from the pond. If his owners were trying to tire him out I saw no sign of success.
