Despite doing lots of small jobs this morning I had too much time to think. Sad thoughts, happy thoughts, tearful thoughts.

I made myself go out after lunch and found a roadside parking spot in Grasmere. An hour was more than enough to walk along the riverside footpath and back through the village. Near the end I met an old friend (ok, he’s younger than me but we’ve known each other a long time) and we caught up on family news, in his case a new grandchild, and I found out more about the parking situation at White Moss (you might remember the no parking sign I blipped). It was good to talk.
