The Wall Comes to Holly

The Vietnam Memorial travelling wall is in the neighboring village of Holly for 4 days. We have been to the original wall in Washington, D.C. The travelling wall is huge, but it is only half the size of the one in D.C.

It is striking in the fact that it is very simple, but think of this fact...there are 58,318 names etched in white on black. 58 THOUSAND NAMES!

It was designed by Maya Lin, and was dedicated in 1982.

Fun to see today, and I included the flowerbox so that I could play Flower Friday. Thanks to Bikerbear for hosting.

P.S. In the Extras is a close-up of the wall. In the center of the picture is a name that I knew. Donald M. Stotts was from my neighborhood, and was 3-4 years older than me.
