Quiet

I was sitting outside and realised that it was very quiet - not a sound. Most of the rest of the year, even if it seems quiet, there is usually some bird song. In August even the Blackbird is silent! 

I guess one reason is that many birds are hiding away, moulting - losing old feathers and growing new ones for the winter. Here's a Blue Tit in moult mode. 

Extra: for anyone interested here is my finished sampler postcard. So different from all the free stitching we are used to doing, but I enjoyed it all the same.
