Yellowthroat

The southeast corner of Arizona, where we are stopping for a couple of weeks, is great for birds. Its mountain canyons are a continuation of the Mexican Sierra Madre range (remember the Humphrey Bogart film?), bringing some sub-tropical species over the border, and also offering good feeding for migrant birds heading north having wintered in Central and South America.

At the San Pedro Riparian centre we saw plenty of migrant birds, such as this common yellowthroat, perhaps on its way back to Montana having wintered in Mexico
