We woke up to a rainy start and had to make a dash to the main house to have our breakfast.
Yummy, we both had fresh fruit to start followed by a full Scottish breakfast , minus beans for me.
Although it was still overcast we went to Castle Sinclair near Wick.We stopped at a little harbour on the way and walked down to the bay.We could hear seals which were out of sight. We did spot one swimming around.
The carpark was quite busy but we managed to find a space and walked down to the ruins of what would have been a magnificent castle in it’s day. You are able to walk around some of the ruins which were really atmospheric.Plenty of good information boards.
There are fine views across to Noss Head and another lighthouse.
The skies brightened on the walk back.Next stop was the stunning Reiss Sands. A wonderful peaceful Sandy beach.I found a Groatie Buckie. We were lucky and had a walk on the beach , just us :) we had sunshine in front and a huge black cloud to the side.
On to Duncansby Head , another light house and a walk down to the stacks. Still a few birds around including this very cute Fulmar chick.Great views across to Stroma and Orkney.
We tried to find a toilet but you had to pay £3 for the carpark at John o Groats so we did not want to pay that.
We had a drink from The Ferry View, a quirky camping site with a bus as a restaurant /cafe.
A nice drive back down country lanes back to the B&B.
Sadly we received some very sad news, my lovely Auntie Jean passed away this morning :(
