Muttley's Musings

Matchbox toys

I took a drive over to Croft on Saturday afternoon to visit the Nature Reserve at Croft Hill. After climbing to the view point at the top of the hill via 'one of the longest flights of wooden stairs in the country' you can look down into the adjacent quarry which is shielded from the village by the man made hill.

My dad used to drive big diggers before he retired, so I was stunned by how tiny these very big quarrying machines looked. They are not so much Tonka toys but more like Matchbox toys. That is one massive hole in the ground!
