Windmill 'De Hadel', De Zaanse Schans, Zaandam

A 'hadel' is actually a young female goat.  I don't know if it is the same as a nanny goat.  Maybe.  It is an old word no longer in use.

It is really different when a touristic place is filled with visitors.  It's a different kind of 'enjoyment' but it can be challenging to take a shot with nobody 'accidentally' photobombing.  Anyway, the rest of the mills were facing the water.

This windmill was originally built close to Medemblik further to the north.  It was dismantled and moved to Benningbroek in the 1950s, and then dismantled and reassembled again in de Zaanse Schans in the early 1960s.  The actual year it was first constructed is unknown, but if its name is so old that it has fallen out of use, then it must be about 400 years old, I would think.  Its style would fit that period, too, around 1600 to 1650.  It's still in use today, helping to regulate the canals in De Zaanse Schans.

Three in a row, and tomorrow I'll be having our regular writers' group ZOOM gathering.  For that, I've revised Chapter 6 again and changed Chapter 7.  In the meantime, a confirmation email has arrived from the employment agency about the M/F schedule, so I'm just waiting for my project manager to return from his holiday.

Supermarket errands were already done in the morning, kitchen duties after dinner... and another day has gone by.
