Stepping Stones in Stainforth

Had to blip this shot as it has been blipped before in 2012 when Orla was just three and a half.

We drove to Stainforth to have a picnic and a paddle at Catrigg Force. There was plenty of shade under the trees there, but the walk up from Stainforth was more a climb than expected, and it was 25 degrees! The hand-held fans came in handy, and Conor got some shade from the small umbrella purchased in the Natural History Museum gift shop last week.

Unfortunately Conor was adamant he didn't want to have a paddle at the waterfall, and made it clear that he didn't want Mum or Dad going for a swim, although paddling was allowed.

He did make us laugh on the way back down, trying to float with his umbrella.

Once we got back down to Stainforth and crossed these stepping stones, we found a lovely shady bench to sit and enjoy some ice cream from the village. Perfect thing to refresh us after the hot walk, listening to the water trickle over the rocks in the stream.

In the evening we strolled down to the village and had a drink and some crisps sat outside the Lister Arms. It was a lovely summer evening village pub scene.
