The Peace rose

Newcomer in the garden and blooming for the first time.

I thought with so much war and conflicts in the world it's nice to have this rose called "Peace rose".

It's a hybrid (cross), which was refined by the Frenchman Francis Meilland  and marketed nationally from 1942.  It became internationally known when it was on the delegates' table during the UN peace conference in San Francisco in 1945. It was the conference that gave the name 'Peace'.

My thoughts goes to the all the civilians that are not protected during war and armed conflict.
