Algae

Paddleboarded early on Derwentwater today, on the water by 8, off it by 11, by which time it was blazingly hot.

Slightly worried by the build up of algae on the lake - hopefully it's not the blue-green type which can be dangerous - especially to animals.

At the end of the paddle, I did go along the river at the north end of the lake, and saw a kingfisher flash past. Poor Deb hadn't joined me on the river, so didn't see it. She's still never seen a kingfisher.

Extra shows the perfect conditions we had over the lake (once we'd crossed the algae) - and I was pleased with the composition and the juxtaposition of Deb against Latrigg and Blencathra
