Here and Now

Fawn

Another wonderful hike with fellow TA VD who kindly chose a flat reservation for our duty today.  Yesterday I was afraid I'd cancel due to aftermath therapy pain, but I was right as rain today.

West Creek Reservation in Parma is home of the Watershed Stewardship Center, which turned out to be a fascinating building.  Most of it is where research is done, but they have a fantastic visitors center as well, including an interactive 2D map showing soil, water, erosion, etc.

The mother of the fawn above was across the road and apparently unconcerned about us or her babe who grazed within 8 feet of us.  VD saw an eagle before I arrived, then spotted a kingfisher in the woods above the creek.  We watched it scoop up a small fish, rearrange it in its mouth and eat it.  We stayed hoping for more action, but there wasn't any.  VD did ask 2 people to put their dogs on leashes.  There are coyotes in this park.

9,389 steps, 3.2 miles, VA counted guests, no assists

I received a call that our good friends S & B found a house near us and were putting an offer on it.  Wanting to have something special for their visit, I stopped at a corner deli on the way home that was giving off good vibes.  Wow!  They sold Greek pastries and other foods made right there.  Mr Mole and I each enjoyed a piece of baklava.

MM results will be later than expected.  Life happened.
