Belated birthday celebration

Cristina, Bella, and Evan took me out for dessert after Evan spent the day with me (Seth is away, working). Everyone wanted a taste of that glorious Boccone Dolce dessert. That's Bella's (only slightly dirty) finger at right, wiping the chocolate message off the plate.

Evan and I went to Powell's City of Books this morning, where he found the perfect pop-up book about architecture. We spent much of the day looking up the history of the buildings featured in the book: Notre Dame de Paris, the Taj Mahal, Sydney Opera House, the Empire State Building, and (extra) one of King Ludwig's castles. I was delighted by his interest in the details of the history of each building and the cultural backgrounds that made their construction possible.
