A Dark Place

A trip today to Lydford Gorge in West Devon.  I thought that I might return with a photo of the white lady falls but the sun was shining through the trees across the top of the falls and several family groups had congregated at the bottom. Instead, my blip shows a scene I didn't actually see. At the bottom of the thickly, wooded gorge I found an old mine adit. Entry was prevented by a rusty, iron grill and nothing could be seen through the darkness inside. I pushed the camera lense through the grill and took this photo using the flash. It gives a taste of the difficult conditions that miners in Cornwall and West Devon Devon must have once worked in.
