Wisdom For Troubled Times

As we came to FBC this morning, there was the hope that we might be blessed with rain, and we received many blessings as we gathered together in praise and worship, but the pouring rain we hoped for was not among those blessings.  We did enjoy some temperatures that were not as hot as we have been experiencing lately.  We were blessed by our choir and orchestra as they sang "Hold On To The Rock" and by the time of congregational worship and praise.  Then we were blessed as Pastor Wes took us back into the book of James to pick up where we left off last Sunday.  He reminded us that James was writing this book to people who had been scattered by persecution for their faith in Jesus and found themselves having to start new lives in a hostile environment where it was not safe to reveal their faith to many around them.  James wrote to them about seeking wisdom from God in every area of their lives, seeking it constantly, trusting God as their source, believing that He would do what He said He would do.  God may not work on our timetable  or in the manner we would prefer, but He is our Father who loves us more than we can comprehend and wants what is best for us.  He can handle our honest questions about what may be happening around us or to us.  The rest of the passage talked about the consequences of rejecting God's wisdom which I believe our world is experiencing right now.  Pastor Wes lays it all out in the Live-stream which would be well worth your time to watch.  Oh, and a few minutes after we got home from church, we did receive a few mercy drops, but as the old hymn says, "Mercy drops round us are falling, but for the showers we pray!".......
