Dwangs and noggins

More lexicon learning today. This circular saw was being used to great effect as dwangs were being cut.

I discovered that a dwang (a term apparently used in Scotland and NZ: a noggin in England and elsewhere) is a cross support to reinforce joists. They certainly make the floor much more robust even before any supporting pillars go in. This should ensure that our previous problem should not arise again.

And to note that it has rained heavily for most of the day: torrentially this evening. Just as I had really adapted to the warmer weather and living outside!
