Almost Dry

On the way back from my mother’s house, I made a quick detour to the Rhine, to see how low it is by now.

The main blip shows the Niederwallufer Bucht, normally a side arm of the river. Now a few shallow ponds. I couldn’t get closer (it’s fenced off), but could see that storks and cormorants are feeding on dead or dying fish in there.

In the extra: a closer view of the same area, a red kite, and a local restaurant ship, the Schwabbel - sitting on dry land now.

As you can see, we still have blue sky, sunshine and relentless heat.
