The Summit of the Oldenhorn …

… at 3122m has been beckoning me for years and today was the perfect day to try it as the glacier that one has to traverse is safe because there is no snow on top of the ice. What a fabulous summit, here you can see Mont Blanc in the background and the Dents du Midi. Centre stage is the Diablerets Summit. In extras you can see strange egg like shapes forming as the glacier melts, with the Matterhorn and the Dent Blanche in the background, and contour lines in the melting glacier from above. A bearded vulture and two Griffon vultures flew past but I failed to photograph them. It could be my last big mountain day as the weather is changing tomorrow.
