Le Mans

We left my sister this morning and drove north through heavy showers to Le Mans.  After checking in to the hotel we went for a wander around the town, climbing up towards the cathedral and from there back down again through the old Plantagenet City, as it is called!

My blip shows one of the many streets we walked down, this one being called La Rue des Trois Sonnettes.  The old town has lovely narrow streets with stone houses and half timbered buildings (known as colombage) and many date from the 14th to 16th centuries.  It's not what one expects in Le Mans, known for it's 24 hour endurance motor race, and it was a lovely surprise!

Many thanks to everyone for the lovely stars and hearts you gave me for my 2000th blip yesterday.  Hardy and Jacqueline would be very happy to know they are on page 1 of Popular!
