Poo power

A couple of Whitley Bay landmarks today.....in the distance St Mary's Island, lighthouse star of many a seaside postcard, but in the foreground we have a lesser known icon, The J E Webb Patent Sewer Gas Destuctor (one of 3 that I know of, but there may well be more!) Sadly no longer casting a friendly poo-powered light since they re-routed the sewers a few years ago. It gives a whole new meaning to the schoolboy concept of lighting one's own farts.....
