Dressed to impress

Finally the beautiful white blossoms of the Blackthorn have appeared! These white flowers are among the first that we see in Epping Forest, some years as early as late February or eary March.

Later on in Autumn they will produce bitter tasting blue-black berries or sloes - excellent for Sloe Gin! Last year there were so few sloes that we couldn't make any so fingers crossed for this year!
