Looking for the sunset

The plan was to capture the shipwreck in Wierum with our drones tonight.
This has been on Richard's wishlist for a while, and today would be the day.

But, the weatherconditions didn't allow that to happen. The long awaited weather change came right at the moment Richard picked me up at 18:30.
We left in a huge downpour combined with thunder and lightning.

Quickly we adjusted our plans. The wreck would have to wait and instead we headed south, to the province od Drenthe where it would be dry and clearing up from 20:00 hours.

Fochteloërveen became our new destination. We'd been there years ago. Maybe we would be lucky with some nice light coming through thick dark clouds.

It turned out we weren't in luck. The clouds were thick and flat grey with no sun at all. We didn't even take our camera out of our bags. We walked in search of nice compositions for about 4 kilometers, but as soon as it was past 21:00 (time of the sunset) it quickly became dark and moody. Only one option left: Go back home and try again later.

On our route we passed this 7-shaped watchtower.

It was a fun evening nonetheless.
