How many have you seen ?

Here is todays list of reportedl recent sightings at our local RSPB
Bird Reserve, Leighton Moss.
Over the past 25 years I think we have at some time or other seen all of these except for Sabine’s Gull.

This is a small, distinctive Gull which breeds near the Arctic Circle in both North America and Eurasia. It apparently spends winters either in the Pacific off the coast of South America or in the South Atlantic off the coast of souther n Africa.

There are uncommon sightings on the coasts of Ireland, Southwest England and Wales. But I believe it is less often seen up here in Morecambe Bay. It is believed that the British sightings may be birds from Iceland and Eastern Canada which have come over the Atlantic and rest briefly here before carrying on with their long journey south.

I must stress that we were not lucky enough to see it.
