Backblip 6

Up early, a quick breakfast, tent and camping gear packed away in to the van, and we were off well before 9.00am. I'm sure we'll be back to Usha Gap before too long!

First stop Richmond to fill up the tank with diesel, then to Thirsk with time to spare. So we sat in the garden at the White Rose BookCafe and enjoyed a coffee  before walking to our 11.00am appointment. Interesting! (Sounds a bit 'cloak and dagger', but everything's up in the air as yet...)

We wandered around Thirsk for the rest of the morning before finding a café for lunch, where we opted to share a 'Yorkshire platter' for two. A good choice - the platter was laden with a huge selection of tasty morsels, but quite where brie is made in Yorkshire I'm not sure! Not complaining though, I love brie...

Off to explore Northallerton in the afternoon - we've been there several times, but usually in search of fish & chips in passing. We weren't dressed for afternoon tea at Betty's (nor is my purse big enough!), but treated ourselves to cake and a cold drink in a nearby tearoom.

Back to Thirsk to book into our B&B before going in to the centre of town for - you guessed it - fish & chips. Finally, a mini-pub crawl - we ventured in to all of two pubs (must be getting old...) for cooling drinks. Dylan was the pub dog in one of them. A super-friendly Rhodesian Ridgeback, he parked himself on the seat by to the couple next to us, who had ordered food. He didn't pester - just looked mournful as his gaze followed every forkful from plate to mouth!
