Abstract Thursday: Sori

According to the Oxford English Dictionary,  sori are the clusters of spore-producing receptacles on the underside of a fern frond.

Lady fern (Athyrium filix-femina) is abundant throughout the northern hemisphere. In the Pacific Northwest, it grows on the western side of Oregon and Washington in wet forests, meadows, and along stream banks.
