View from Mam Tor

We woke to sun this morning which was lovely especially since we had a walk planned.  A drive to Castleton and a 6.5 mile walk from Castleton up a limestone gorge (Cave Dale) with the remains of Peveril Castle close by. Very striking scenery and then slowly climbing to the open moorland.  We headed towards Mam Tor and climbed upto the top with spectacular views in all directions.  From here we walked along the top for some distance slowly descending and at Hollins Cross took a route back down into Castleton.  We headed quickly to the bakers for a late lunch and then headed back to Hathersage.

In the late afternoon I revisited Surprise View area walking further into the hills with my camera and tripod.  Its a lovely area with the heather still in bloom.  I headed towards Over Owler Hill taking photos of Mother Cap Stone and Over Owler Tor.  So glad I found the time to visit this area as yesterday the poor weather stopped us going back to it.  I will add some extras of this later.
